Tour round the village, football and museum

For a tour round the village, we now take a quarter of an hour to half an hour longer. Because taking care of your business here is not exactly anonymous. We now know quite a few people from the village and so it can happen that during my round I greet and shake hands with the mayor who walks through the main street, have a chat with the employees of the booking office of the Alpe-Adria Trail that send many guests to us, wave to the hairdresser who is sharpening his scissors, pick up new leaflets at the local tourist office while going through the gastronomy situation in our beautiful National Park Hohe Tauern and the neighbor asks me how our holiday has been. Everyone greets here anyway, even if you don't know each other, the elderly who are on the road early but also the children on their way to school. The village tour shows how respect and interest are still commonplace here.

After a round of village we end up in a round of football at the World Cup in Qatar which is still broadcast here on the normal public channels. Not that that interests me so much now, but I enjoy the many fans from all over the world who passionately and emotionally encourage their national team in the stands. And especially how the Japanese fans and the team clean up and take away their waste directly behind themselves. The whole world is bewildered and measures this widely on social media. And how bizarre, that we find this so special while letting the incredible mountain of waste swing around the world is just so absurd and harmful. Then it is also such a relief in our tour round the village to see how clean and tidy the streets and surrounding roads and meadows are. Why do we think something that is normal is not normal and vice versa? The world is illogical.

That world is fantastically exhibited on a small (Carinthian) scale in the Kärnten Museum in Klagenfurt. This was opened again in November this year after it has been renovated for eight years and is worth a visit, highly recommended! From the Römer sites to the geological challenges that the Alpine region experiences every day, fascinating and confronting. Such a tour through this historical museum makes you feel your own insignificance and realize that the world does not revolve around us, but we just turn with the world for a while.

The very best thing you can do for the world is to make the best of yourself

A wonderful Christmas season and a loving and above all connecting 2023 wished!
